2.  Workshop Program

The workshop will cover areas of Quality Management under following headings:

                2.1          Laboratory Management, including

                                -  Laboratory design, construction and equipment

                                -  Laboratory personnel training, hiring and management

                                -  Laboratory safety and risk management

                                -  Laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

                                -  Equipment and chemicals procurement

                                -  Equipment repair and maintenance

                                -  Laboratory Budget preparation and financial control.

                2.2          Quality Assurance

                                -  Preparation of product specifications

                                -  Use of standard testing procedures (STP)

                                -  Standard Operating procedures (SOP)

                                -  Validation of analytical measurements (VAM)

                                -  Documentation of Analytical measurements (DAM)

                                -  Handling of Quality complaints (HQC)

                                -  Sampling for laboratory analysis (SLA)

                                -  Statistical analysis of analytical data

                                -  Shelf-life and stability testing

                                -  Analytical method development and evaluation

                                -  Process Quality control

                2.3          Laboratory Accreditation

                                -  Internal certification

                                -  Certification by the National Bureau of Standards and Private Organizations

                                -  Accreditation by Regional Organization or the International Standards Organization.

3.            Language of the Workshop

The Workshop will be conducted in English.

4.             Venue

                The workshop venue will be held in Mombasa, Kenya, but the exact hotel will be indicated later:  

              Organizers are E-SALAMA local Secretariat and University of Nairobi

5.            Accommodation:

                There are several hotels in Mombasa, prices ranging from USD 20 to 200.  Details will be provided later. The aim is to negotiate with a specific hotel, which can accommodate all the participants.
